We can't believe it's been a year since Roger was tragically killed by a distracted driver, who was on a cell phone. Roger was biking from San Diego, CA to Jacksonville Beach, FL to build awareness and raise funds for the victims of the 2010 Gulf Coast Oil Spill. We are honored that more than 20 Pensacola area cyclists will gather on October 6, 2011, to honor his legacy and help us finish Roger's remaining 300 miles, ending with a tire dipping on October 9th in the Atlantic ocean.
We left Deming, NM at 8:30AM, and for a second day followed I 10 and rode into a strong headwind.
The mountain/ prairie views were much the same as yesterday.
After 50 miles we were near Las Cruces, NM (view of city and Franklin Mountains) and left I 10 following route 28 through the Mesilla Valley, a area know for Stahmann Pecan Farms producing 11,000,000 lbs of pecans yearly.
Our route took us north of El Paso through the Franklin Mountains
We entered Texas near Fort Bliss with another 100 mile day
